Have fun honing your skills in an immersive environment!

The Foundational Musicians program is intended to set students up for success. Since the Suzuki Method for children at this level involves parents as home practice partners, parents must attend classes with students at this level.

Classes for students and parents at this level include:

-Masterclasses – a shared lesson with other students and parents
-Technique Class – a smaller group lesson of students who play the same instrument focusing on the skills of playing.
-Repertoire Class – a larger group lesson which focuses on fun and engaging ways to play music together.

Students will also participate in enrichment classes that give students other ways to explore the arts and their bodies. Examples of classes in the past have been Music through Stories, Art of the World, Origami, Yoga for Musicians, Dalcroze-music through movement. More information on our enrichment for 2019 will be included with registration.

There are also parent education sessions throughout the day, so parents can receive support on how to best work with their children.

This program is recommended for students studying in the fundamental levels of the Suzuki Method (Violin Book 1-2, Viola Book 1-2, Cello Book 1-2, Bass Book 1, Guitar Book 1-2 and above).

The dates for 2019 are Tuesday, July 23-Saturday, July 27.
The schedule for the Foundational Student Program runs from 9:00-3:45pm.

Preparation:

-Students should come prepared with all Suzuki pieces memorized and mastered up to their current level.
-Well-polished solo piece for use in their individual master class.

The Suzuki Method thrives on the common shared repertoire that all children have studied.  It is our goal for students to be able to play and learn together with students from different areas of the world.  Parents, please be vigilant about helping your child practice their review pieces to a high performing level.  Students well-prepared will feel more confident and have a much more enjoyable experience at the Institute.
