Megan Canney serves as Organization and Development Director of Mission Possible! Austin, a community service organization which reaches individuals in under-resourced areas of Greater Austin. In addition, Megan maintains a successful private violin studio.
Megan completed her Masters Degree in Violin Performance at the University of Texas at Austin, studying with Anne-Akiko Meyers and Sandy Yamamoto (2011). She served as Violin and Early Childhood Education faculty at Monarch Suzuki Academy located in Austin, TX.
Megan holds the degree of Bachelors of Music from the University of Denver (2006). While in Denver, she completed her long-term Suzuki Violin Teacher Training under the guidance of James Maurer. Additionally, she has registered Suzuki Early Childhood Education Training with Dorothy and Sharon Jones and served as Coordinator of the Early Childhood Program at the University of Texas String Project (2011-2012). In the Austin area, Megan has developed reputation for coordinating Suzuki Early Childhood Education Teacher Training events with Dorothy & Sharon Jones. These events have met full registrations, developing the Austin area as a hub for Suzuki Early Childhood Education. In addition to acting as Office Manager for the University of Texas String Project (2010-2012), Megan also served as the Interim Director and Master Teacher of the University of Wyoming String Project (2007).
Megan began her violin studies as a member of the Buffalo Suzuki Strings and then continued her studies in Houston, Texas with Shirley Koch. In addition to her work at the University of Texas, Megan studied privately with James Maurer, Yumi Hwang-Williams, Mimi Zweig, and Sherry Sinift.
